ASK® CARBON PARTICLES FLOCCULATION TEST FOR RAPID PLASMA REGAIN
PURPOSE
The ASK CARBON PARTICLES FLOCCULATION TEST FOR RAPID PLASM REAGIN (RPR) is, a syphilis screening test, used for the detection of reagin antibodies in human serum.
PRINCIPLE
The antigen used in the kit is a modification of VDRL antigen which contains micro particulate charcoal to enhance the visual difference between a positive and a negative result. If a specimen contains reagin, flocculation occurs with a coagulation of carbon particles contained in the antigen suspension, which appears as black clumps. Non-reactive specimens appear as a light gray color.
