ASK® LACTATE DEHYDROGENASE (LDH) LIQUID REAGENT (Non-Sterile)
PURPOSE
The ASK LACTATE DEHYDROGENASE (LDH) LIQUID REAGENT is, a kinetic method, used for the quantitative determination oflactate dehydrogenase (LDH) activity in serum.
PRINCIPLE
LDH
L-Lactate + NAD+ <---------------> Pyruvate + NADH + H+
The LDH enzyme activity can be measured in both directions. Using optimal conditions for both directions and taking into account isoenzyme variation, assays in either direction are considered to be equivalent. However, lactate to pyruvate method offers a number of advantages (a) the rate of reaction is linear over a wide range (b) no pre-incubation is required and (c) better reagent stability.
The principle of ASK LDH LIQUID REAGENT is as follows:
LDH catalyzes the oxidation of lactate to pyruvate in the presence of NAD which is subsequently reduced to NADH. The rate of NADH formation measured at 340nm is directly proportional to serum LDH-L activity.
